Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
At NovaDrilling, safety is of paramount importance. We are constantly working to update our standard operating procedures (SOPs) to minimize and, in some situations, eliminate health hazards through engineering solutions. Given the risks inherent in core drilling - exposure to heavy equipment, extreme weather conditions, hot surfaces, etc. - we take a comprehensive approach to mitigate these risks.
The SOP development process involves senior management, engineers and field personnel. This multifaceted approach ensures that procedures are thoroughly vetted and practical. Before developing work protocols, we conduct a Site Hazard Analysis to document each step, the hazards involved and the necessary controls.
The data collected, as well as photographs of operations, serve as the basis for the development of the SOPs. Once developed, SOPs are thoroughly reviewed by the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Manager, Technical Director and Company Director before final approval. The purpose of the Standard Operating Procedures is to provide an up-to-date document for training new personnel, to inform current personnel about the risks they face, and to provide information about inventory and its purpose for safe operations. The procedures also facilitate timely requests to replace worn-out or faulty equipment.
Each equipment model in our fleet has its own Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), considering its unique technical features. SOPs are regularly updated when new technological solutions are discovered or additional risks and legislative requirements arise. Our SOPs are more than just a manual; they are a tool for training, informing personnel of risks, maintaining supplies for safe operation and ensuring tools are replaced promptly. In addition, each equipment model has its own SOP tailored to its unique technical features. These guidelines are updated regularly to reflect new technologies, emerging risks and legal requirements.
We design these documents to be easily digestible, visual and to facilitate effective training, even for those not directly involved in drilling operations. We are constantly working to ensure the safety of our operations, starting with the most hazardous and progressing to the less dangerous.
Our unwavering commitment to high safety standards enables us to provide quality drilling services. This commitment is at the heart of NovaDrilling's sustained success.
